An Orange County man on vacation in Medellin, Colombia is dead after going on a date with a woman he met there on Tinder.
Amy Nguyen said on Go Fund Me this week that police found his body just a few hours after he had been reported missing on November 10.
She believes the woman he met worked to lure him away from the bar and that she had the help of others.
“He is a victim of a cruel and senseless crime. These people chose money and greed over a single thought of my brother’s life,” she said.
She told ABC7 that they took all his belongings and swiped his cards after 4 a.m. Authorities believe he may have been drugged.
According to the Daily Mail, he is the 25th tourist in Medellin to be killed this year.
“It just felt so surreal when we found out. It was just very overwhelming trying to figure everything out and it’s hard that we can’t see him back home. We’re working really hard to bring him back.”
The Go Fund Me campaign to bring her brother’s body back raised almost $36,000 and has been closed. She said any money left over after returning the body will be used towards attorney fees.
“With your help, we are able to provide him the beautiful service he deserves. Paul was taken too soon and we can not change that, but you all have built a powerful legacy for him,” she wrote on Go Fund Me.
No arrests have been made in this case.
