Jeremy Lin signs with basketball team in Taiwan

KaoHsiung, here I come! #year13, proclaimed Jeremy Lin on Twitter.

With that, the former NBA basketball player best known for his time with the New York Knicks, announced he has signed with the Kaohsiung Steelers.

Lin’s future became unclear after he decided to leave the Guangzhou Loong Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association in late December over his lack of playing time.

Speculations that the Taiwanese American would sign with a team from Taiwan quickly surfaced.

The Steelers of Taiwan’s professional P. LEAGUE+ (PLG) made their own announcement on Thursday, reported Taiwan News.

Fans are quickly sending their congratulations to the popular player.

Lin showed the world he hasn’t lost his shooting touch, posting this video of a recent workout.

Lin has long been one of basketball’s greatest ambassadors in Asia and he hopes his presence in Taiwan will uplift basketball on the island nation.

RTI reported that the Steelers believe Lin chose to sign with them because he wants to enhance the popularity of basketball in South Taiwan which has lagged behind the north.
