‘Creed III’ fights influenced by anime, Michael B. Jordan says

Michael B. Jordan, star of the Rocky spin-off movie series Creed, said during a recent interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, that the fight scenes in the upcoming Creed movie will have anime influences.

According to Movie Web, the Creed films follow Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis, played by Michael B. Jordan. Creed III will dive into Adonis’ past as a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy appears to challenge Adonis in the ring.

Jordan is currently doing press for the third film. During his appearance on Jimmy Fallon, he mentioned that anime influenced the way the boxing scenes were shot.

“So we shot all the fights in IMAX. And also, I had a huge Japanese anime influence on a lot of my fights. I’m an anime nerd,” Jordan said during the interview.

According to Screen Rant, Jordan has previously mentioned that boxing-themed manga series Hajime no Ippo was a major influence on the film.

Creed III will premiere in theaters on March 3.
