Vanessa Hudgens has announced her engagement to Colorado Rockies baseball player Cole Tucker. The Filipino American actress made the announcement on Instagram on Thursday, CBS News reports.
“YES. We couldn’t be happier,” she wrote in the post.
According to AZ Central, Tucker attended Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee, Arizona. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He played in the Minor League before making his MLB debut in 2019.
In June 2022, the Arizona Diamondbacks claimed Tucker off of waivers and sent him to the Minor Leagues. He chose free agency at the end of the season and signed a Minor League deal with the Colorado Rockies.
CBS News reports that rumors that the pair were dating surfaced over two years ago. In 2021, Hudgens confirmed the relationship and explained how she met Tucker through a Zoom mediation group.
“There’s a GIF in the group chat of a baseball player and he’s sliding onto a base. And I thought it was a joke, so I just responded, ‘hot.’ And then I get on the Zoom and I’m like, ‘who is that?’ And I found him and we started talking and yeah, it’s wild that we found each other over Zoom,” she told CBS News.
Hudgens is currently preparing to star in Hamish Linklater and Lily Rabe’s film Downtown Owl.
