Arrest made in attack on street vendor in San Jose

Police in San Jose, California have identified a 43-year-old man arrested in the attack on a food vendor as Kin Tex Ho, reports Fox2.

Video of the attack this weekend went viral as a man is seen attacking Carlos Sanchez and his pickup truck with a baseball bat.

“This is illegal…you are criminal,” ABC7 reported the man as saying. Sanchez tried to defuse the situation telling the attacker to “take it easy.”

Sanchez pleaded that he was on public property and wasn’t doing anything illegal.

Sanchez tells ABC7 he has been cooking in the area for the past six months and earns about 50 dollars per day in an attempt just to survive. He is a father in a family of four.

“I never thought that this would happen, and, of course, I was scared,” Sanchez told ABC7 News in Spanish.

The attack has caught the attention of the city’s large Latino community.

“I feel like our Latino-Indigenous community has always been overseen and overlooked when it comes to the struggles they face,” Flor Martinez, the CEO of Celebration Nation said. He called Sanchez brave for going forward with his complaint to the police.

According to NBC Bay Area, this is the second attack on a food vendor in the last week in San Jose.
