Rep Gooden not backing down from branding Rep Chu disloyal

Texas Rep. Lance Gooden is going all in on questioning the loyalty of Rep Judy Chu (D-CA).

In several tweets this week, Gooden turned to the right-wing publication The Daily Caller to back his claims.

He said Chu “voted against the committee to investigate China” and is the “honorary chairwoman of a Chinese Communist Party front group.”

Gooden sent out the tweet after being accused by Democrats, including Chu herself, of being racist and xenophobic.

“Gooden’s slanderous accusation of disloyalty against Rep. Chu is dangerous, unconscionable and xenophobic,” Democratic House Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries said.

Chu herself branded Gooden’s comment as “based on false information spread by an extreme, right-wing website. Furthermore, it is racist. I very much doubt that he would be spreading these lies were I not of Chinese American descent.”

Those charges seemed only to embolden Gooden who is playing to the extreme right of the Republican Party.

He went on to slam Chu for refusing to support the investigation of Dominic Ng, a Biden nominee he says has ties to China.
