‘American Born Chinese’ release date, trailer drops during Oscars

A trailer and release date for the television series “American Born Chinese” dropped during a commercial break at the Oscars ceremony on Sunday night. The show will premiere May 24 on Disney+.

“American Born Chinese” is a television adaptation of a graphic novel of the same name by Gene Luen Yang. The series will follow teenager Jin Wang who is trying to balance high school life with his at-home problems. On the first day of school, Jin meets a foreign exchange student and they quickly become entwined in a world of mythical beings.

Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, who both won Oscars for their performances in Everything Everywhere All At Once, will both star in the series. Their castmate Stephanie Hsu will also guest star.
