Look out for Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh as she will be starring in the big screen adaption of the 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Wicked is based on the untold true story of the witches of Oz and the musical features other well-known actors like Ariana Grande as Glinda and Colin Michael Carmichael from Black Mirror according to SYFY.
Shifting from movies and television to musicals, Yeoh strives to take her career to the next level after winning an Oscar for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once as Evelyn Wang.
Yeo will star as Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Shiz University.
This musical performance has the ability to empower women because the main
characters all consist of women from different cultures.
The role will be Yeo’s first musical and she is ecstatic for her fans to see it.
“It was a risk but you will never know which doors will open for you unless you try them all,” Yeoh said to People Magazine.
According to Deadline, the musical will be split into two with Wicked Part One showing on November 27, 2024.
That way the story will be told “while bringing even more depth and surprise to the
journeys of these beloved characters.”
