Disney releases trailer for movie musical ‘World’s Best’

Disney+ has released the official trailer for its new upcoming movie musical World’s Best.

The movie follows Prem Patel, a 12-year-old math genius who discovers that his recently deceased father was a famous rapper. Patel, despite his mother’s protestations, sets out on his own journey into rap and hip-hop.

Disney newcomer Manny Magnus will play Patel. It will also feature performances from Punam Patel, Jake Choi, Max Malas, Piper Wallace, Kayla Njeri, Dorian Giordano, Kathryn Greenwood, Christopher Jackson and Doug E. Fresh.

The film was co-written and co-executive produced by Utkarsh Ambudkar, who is known for his roles in “Brittany Runs a Marathon,” “Pitch Perfect” and “Blindspotting.” Ambudkar will also star in the movie as the ghost of Patel’s father who introduces his son to rap.

World’s Best will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting June 23.

  1. Umm, when are we gonna feature people that early hollywood tormented and literally put through hell. Until Hollywood gives Asian(east Asians or orientals as we once derogatorily referred to them) and black actors central roles and stories that we gave to Italians and Irish Americans while we denied those same role to east Asian and black faces for over a century then I don’t want to hear about any other group wanting to feel celebrated just to be celebrated. This country and Hollywood gave opportunities and roles that enabled Irish Americans and Italian Americans to achieve their golden era and cinematic and cultural glory while we denied those opportunities and era to our east Asian and black brothers and sisters. They are asking for nothing more than what Hollywood owes them. We must not whitewash history and rose colored glasses. The wheels of justice will not turn until we demand it.
