“Squid Games” has announced new and returning cast members for its second season.
The South Korean Netflix original series was one of the most popular series of fall 2021, breaking several records. It is Netflix’s most-watched show with 1.65 billion views.
The show follows hundreds of contestants who, in desperate need of money, agree to compete in a series of children’s games. Unbeknownst to them, the games turn out to be deadly.
The cast announcement was made at Netflix’s TUDUM event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Lee Jung-jae will return as Gi-hun. Lee won an Emmy for the role. Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo and Wi Ha-jun will also return to the cast.
Season 2 will also feature several newcomers: Yim Si-wan (Unlocked), Kang Ha-neul (The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure), Park Sung-hoon (The Glory) and Yang Dong-geun (Yaksha: Ruthless Operations).
