On Tuesday, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, where he was greeted by India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, reports the Business Standard.
Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, a member of the Sikh community, expressed strong support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting his achievements both for the Sikh community and the country. “The Sikh community stands behind PM Modi. He has done a lot for the Sikh community and India. We are very proud to have him here today. We are against terrorism, that is why we have come here. India is working hard to fight terrorism,” reported the Times of India.
Vipin Dutta, an Indian-origin individual residing in the US, emphasized the enthusiasm for Modi extends beyond just the Sikh community. Dutta commended PM Modi for his accomplishments during his tenure of nine years, stating that people from all backgrounds stand behind him.
Dutta further praised PM Modi’s remarkable achievements, stating, “Not only Sikhs, but everyone supports Narendra Modi, our prime minister because he has achieved extraordinary things in the past eight or nine years. It is evident and widely acknowledged how India has attained a prominent position on the global stage under his leadership.
Modi went to the United Nation’s Wednesday to take part in International Yoga Day.
He is scheduled to make a joint speech to both the House and Senate Thursday, June 22 and will meet with President Biden on Friday.
“We’re hosting India for an official state visit to put our cooperation on an inexorable trajectory as we support India’s emergence as a great power that will be central to ensuring U.S. interests in the coming decades,” John Kirby, who heads strategic communications for President Joe Biden’s National Security Council, said at a press briefing, reported The Hindu.
