Life simulation game giant The Sims 4 is releasing a free new base game update that includes new eye and brow presets to allow for the easier creation of East Asian characters, known as Sims, Digital Spy reports. Brows now come in tapered, straight or wavy shapes.
The update also comes with hairstyle options for Native American Sims and other elements that reflect the culture of Indigenous Peoples in America such as Three Sisters Chili.
In response to excitement on Twitter, user SimGuruAsh, a producer on the game, shared a few sneak peeks at the new options.
These updates come after a history of discontent with The Sims game franchise’s lack of options for designing non-cis white characters. In 2020, The Sims 4 added more than 100 new skin tones to the game, along with sliders for both skin tone and makeup, to address complaints about lack of adequate options for darker skin tones. In 2021, the game saw the addition of 16 eye presets designed to help make East Asian Sim creation easier.
Full details on the update can be read here.
