Filipino American singer/songwriter and actress Olivia Rodrigo released her new song, “Can’t Catch Me Now,” this past Friday.
According to ABS CBN News, her song is part of the official soundtrack for the upcoming “Hunger Games” prequel called “The Ballads of Songbirds and Snakes” which is coming to theaters in the USA on November 17, 2023.
On November 1, Rodrigo released a statement on her Instagram: “[S]oooo beyond excited that I got the opportunity to write a song for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.”
The acoustic song is part of the folk/Americana genre and will be the opening track to the 17-song album for the upcoming film, according to Billboard Magazine.
“The Ballads of Songbirds and Snakes” is an adaptation of the book written by Suzanne Collins that was released in May 2020. This novel is the prequel to the ultra-successful “The Hunger Games” book trilogy released in 2008 also written by Collins.
