Shohei Ohtani gifted the wife of his new Los Angeles Dodgers teammate Joe Kelly a Porsche for Christmas.
According to CNN, the Dodgers social media posted a video of Ashley Kelly receiving the car on Saturday.
“It’s yours…from Shohei,” Joe Kelly tells his wife in the video.
The gift is presumably a thank you for Ashley’s efforts on social media to bring Ohtani to the Dodgers.
According to ESPN, Ashley started a viral social media campaign called #Ohtake17. Joe, a relief pitcher, has worn the no. 17 for the Dodgers since 2019. Ohtani wore the number of the six years he was with the Angeles. Ashley jokingly told Ohtani he could take her husband’s jersey number if he signed with the Dodgers.
In one video, she showed Ohtani all of the no. 17 jerseys in the Kelly household that could be changed for Ohtani and his family. After Ohtani signed with the dodgers, Ashley posted a video of herself throwing the no. 17 gear out onto the lawn. At the end of the video, she wrote “Kelly 99” on the back of her husband’s white t-shirt.
