by Martin and Rich Lee
Have you ever noticed how Marty (featured in the comic photograph on the wall) has a lot of gray hairs in his mustache and beard? The same is often true for US presidents when they leave the office after one or two terms. Wait, did I just imply Marty lives a life as stressful as a US president?! But the fact remains that people who experience a lot of stress in their lives experience more wear and tear on their bodies. In effect, stress ages their bodies faster. Racism, excessive working, poor sleep, poverty, persistent fighting and conflict — these stressors in life can have long-term consequences. Poor Diggy confuses himself by thinking watching too much pickleball on TV means he’s getting old.
Martin and Rich Lee are second generation Korean American brothers. Martin is a retired elementary school teacher and the illustrator of the strip. Rich is a professor of psychology in Asian American studies at the University of Minnesota and writes the content.
