Protestors gathered outside of Rep. Grace Meng’s residence in Bayside, New York on Saturday to bring attention to her “refusal to support an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.”
According to a press release from a civil rights organization called Asians 4 Palestine, protestors displayed body bags on the sidewalk and covered them with poppies, the national flower of Palestine. The bags were meant to symbolize the more than 30,000 Palestinians who have been killed since October.
“We call on Representative Meng to prioritize the voices of her constituents, and most importantly the children and families who are being killed and starved in Israel’s ongoing bombardment of Gaza,” said the group in its statement.
Asians 4 Palestine has laid out the following demands for Rep. Meng:
- Support an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
- End military aid to Israel.
- Stop accepting funds from AIPAC and prioritizing their platform over the views of your constituents.
