Iowa hosts largest ever Filipino Fiesta

The fiesta took place in Wagner Park in Ankeny, a town just outside of Des Moines, We are Iowa reports. Festivities began at 9 a.m. and will run until 6:30 p.m. CST. It was hosted by the Filipino American Society of Iowa.

Attendees enjoyed games, cultural performances, food and other fare. Organizers told WHO 13 ahead of the fiesta they believed that the event would draw in over 1,000 people.

The celebration comes shortly before Philippines Independence Day on June 12.
