The FBI raided Linda Sun’s home in Nassau County, New York, early Tuesday morning. Sun previously served as New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s deputy chief of staff.
According to The New York Times, Sun, 40, shares the home with her husband. Neither have been accused of wrongdoing and the reason behind the raid remains unclear.
News outlets such as NBC New York and The New York Times, could not reach either Sun or her husband for comment.
Sun began working as deputy chief of staff for Hochul in 2021. At the time, according to NBC New York, she was the highest-ranking Asian American in the administration. She left the role two years ago.
Before working for the governor, Sun held numerous positions in the New York state government. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and government from Barnard College and a Master of Arts from Columbia University.
Avi Small, the press secretary for Ms. Hochul, declined to comment to The New York Times. The U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn, which allegedly obtained the search warrant for the raid, also declined.
