An Asian grocery store with 33 locations in Canada is making a big push into the U.S. marketplace.
T&T Supermarket today announced it plans to open a location in San Jose, CA in the Fall of 2025. The opening will come about a year after its scheduled grand opening in Bellevue, WA in November.
Its San Jose location will be at the Westgate Center at the former 55,000 square foot location of Walmart and will be T&T’s third U.S. location. It’s second location will also be in the Seattle area.
T&T is promising a “full service unique shopping experience” complete with a BBQ counter, noodle station, dim sum and street food section along with a hot food bar and Chinese crepe station.
“We aim to create a destination,” said Tina Lee, CEO of T&T supermarkets. “It’s a place for discovery, innovation, and bringing people together through food. We want to be a place where people want to go not just need to go.”
Westgate Center currently features such retailers at Target, TJ Maxx, Old Navy, Nike Factory Store and Michael’s. The mall is excited to welcome T&T to its location.
“I came back from Canada thinking ‘we have to make this happen,’ said Jeff Kreshek of Federal Realty, the developer for Westgate Center. “People don’t know what they are missing. T&T is a dynamic concept that caters to the eclectic interests and preferences of our community. To take the T&T experience and put it into Westgate Center- it’ll be a force multiplier.”
T&T says it will create 200 jobs for the local economy.
