After 14 nominations, Sandra Oh can finally call herself an Emmy winner.
Oh won over the weekend in the category of Best TV Movie for Quiz Lady at the 2024 Creative Art Emmys, reports EW.
She starred alongside Awkwafina as two sisters with opposite personalities who plot to win the prize money from a game show to save their mother from both her gambling debts and the mob.
Oh was at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Sunday when the award was announced.
OMG @quizladymovie just won an Emmy for Best TV Movie! @televisionacad. I love you whole QL team! ❤️❤️❤️, she wrote on Instagram.
The cast and crew of Quiz Lady told Deadline they were stunned that Oh had not been previously recognized by the Emmys.
They say it’s been that sort of journey for the movie since it premiered at TIFF.
“We’ve gone through a lot of stuff. We shot during Covid, we premiered during the strike, and we just sort of like kept going,” said writer/producer Jen D’Angelo. “We were the original comedy that could and it’s just been so wonderful to be able to share it with the world and to be able to have nights like tonight to celebrate it.”
Oh had previously been nominated for her roles on Grey’s Anatomy and Killing Eve. She also received a nomination for guest-hosting Saturday Night Live, but has never won an Emmy statuette until now.
