The Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has announced its readiness to assist 370,000 undocumented Filipino immigrants in the United States who may face deportation under President-elect Donald Trump’s proposed immigration policies.
According to Rappler, DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac emphasized that the agency has mobilized resources to ensure financial, medical, and legal support for potential deportees. This initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to safeguard overseas Filipinos.
As reported by BusinessWorld, the DMW is working closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to implement support mechanisms, including the AKSYON and Emergency Repatriation Funds.
These programs aim to assist returning Filipinos immediately. Additionally, the National Reintegration Center for Overseas Filipino Workers(OFWs) is collaborating with the Department of Labor and Employment, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to ensure job retooling, reskilling, and reintegration opportunities for deportees.
