Actor Song Jae-lim dies at 39

South Korean actor and former model Song Jae-lim, best known for his roles in K-dramas, passed away at 39 last Tuesday.

Song first made his acting debut in 2009’s Actresses, but later rose to prominence in his role as a loyalist warrior in the 2012 drama series Moon Embracing the Sun, and his appearance on the reality show, We Got Married, in 2014. His final roles include the musical La Rose De Versailles, which ended in October, per CNN and Variety.

According to YonHap News Agency, Song was found dead in his home in Seongdong Ward, Seoul at 12:30 p.m. local time by a friend who planned to have lunch with him.

Police reported that there was no evidence of foul play, and a note was found at the scene. Song’s family told Yonhap News Agency that they plan on holding a small funeral only involving family members. Song’s family also mentioned no cause of death.

In the wake of Song’s death, other South Korean actors have took to social media to pay respects.

“This is sad… Jae-lim… you were such a cheerful guy… I can’t believe this.”, said Park Ho-san on Instagram. “I’m so sorry for not contacting you or caring for you enough,”.

“I’m sad that I can’t see your wonderful smile again… I’m so sorry, rest in peace.”, said Hong Seok-cheon in another Instagram post.
