A stunning revelation from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police Chief Jim McDonnell revealed that Hannah Kobayashi, the 23-year-old from Maui who disappeared while enroute to New York, intentionally missed her connecting flight in Los Angeles.
“On Friday, Nov. 8 23-year-old Hannah Kobayashi missed her connecting flight from LAX to New York which the investigation determined was intentional,” McDonnell said, according to The Mirror. “Over the next few days, she maintained contact with her family and remained active on Instagram.”
Kobayashi told her family she left the airport and went into the city while trying to arrange a new flight. Their last message from her came in the form of a disturbing text message that read “tricked pretty much into giving away all my funds” to “someone I thought I loved.”
Meanwhile, the Independent reports she had planned to go to New York with her ex-boyfriend. Her boyfriend made it to his destination, but she did not.
The two reportedly broke up prior to the trip, but decided to go anyway since the flight was not refundable.
The former boyfriend who has not been made has been cooperating with police to help find her.
