A donation from Deb and Dave Liu has raised the matching grant for the current holiday drive to $17,000 to benefit AsAmNews.
The $5000 matching grant challenge from the Liu’s together with previous challenges from Lam Consulting Group, Dickson Louie and Randall & Gale Yip will be used to double the tax-deductible donations received through the end of the year- up to a grand total of $17,000.
Together with the match, so far nearly $19,000 has been raised to support staff salaries and benefits and to pay our freelance reporters and other contractors – the people who publish AsAmNews each and every day.
“We’d like to thank our generous readers who are poised to make this the best fundraising year ever in our history,” said a statement from AsAmNews. “This money is critical to our efforts to produce the type of quality content our readers expect.”
The goal is to raise $38,000 by the end of the year, meaning we would need to raise $1,000 each day through the end of the year.

Recently the Library of Congress selected AsAmNews for preservation. It is now in the process of archiving our entire catalog of content from our inception in 2012. The archive will be available to historians, researchers and the general public for generations to come through the Library of Congress.
The archive will be open to the public sometime in winter 2025.
