More controversy surrounding New York Mayor Eric Adams.

Hotel developer Weihong Hu is one of three people charged in a scheme to steal COVID-relief money in New York intended for emergency housing, reports ABC7.

“Through kickbacks and bribes, the defendants Julio Medina, Christopher Dantzler and Weihong Hu capitalized on the Covid-19 crisis and exploited the Emergency Housing Program by engaging in a corrupt scheme to line their own pockets with millions of dollars intended to protect the public,” the indictment said.

The former Chinese community liaison for New York Mayor Eric Adams, Winnie Greco, lived in one of Hu’s hotels. The FBI raised Greco’s home one year ago.

According to the NY Times, prosecutors say the three people accused in the case stole tens of millions from a housing program.

The program involved took inmates from overcrowded jails and into hotels around the city to slow the spread of Covid.

Hu is described as a prominent donor to Adams.

Hu’s attorney, Benjamin Brafman, denied the charges saying she is a “victim, not a co-conspirator.” Representatives of the other defendants could not be reached.
