A Japanese national student with a couple of speeding tickets and a dismissed fishing violation had been ordered to leave the country by the end of the month. his attorney says.
He sued and now his student visa has been reinstated.
KSL Radio reports Suguru Onda, a student at Brigham Young University in Utah, regained his visa
“He is reinstated as if it was never revoked,” said Adam Crayk, Onda’s immigration attorney.
His client is a year away from earning his PhD in computer science.
“I was surprised,” Onda told the Deseret News, “but at the same time, I’m seeing so much news about (student visa revocations); but I didn’t expect it to happen to me.”
