A memorial to comfort women may be built in Glendale Central Park in the city of Glendale, CA, reports the LA Daily News,

It would be the first such memorial on the West Coast. . The other is in Palisades Park, New Jersey and another is being considered Ft. Lee, New Jersey .

The design for the memorial in California was unveiled before the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission yesterday. It would be an exact replica of one in Seoul, Korea across from the Japanese embassy.

An estimated 200,000 women were kidnapped and forced into brothels by the Japanese military during World War II for the sexual gratification of the imperial army.

The Korean American Forum has been raising money for the memorial in Glendale.
