SF Gate: Thuy Vu to Anchor KQED Newsroom

CATEGORIES

Thuy VuLong time San Francisco reporter and news anchor Thuy Vu is returning to Bay Area television. She’ll anchor the new “KQED Newsroom.”

The program replaces the long running “This Week in Northern California” which was hosted by Bay Area veteran Belva Davis until her retirement in 2012.

“It’s official,” Vu announced on Facebook along with a link to the SF Gate article.

Thuy has worked at KGO, KPIX and KTVU as well as KQED radio.

The new show which debuts October 18 is actually taking on an old name. “Newsroom” was the program which aired on KQED during the 1968 newspaper strike in San Francisco.

Vu has won numerous awards including four from the Asian American Journalists Association and three from the Northern California Emmys. She was also honored as the 2010 outstanding reporter by the National Alliance for Women.
