Suni Lee registered to compete at U.S. Classic, alongside other Olympians

Suni Lee is registered to compete at the U.S. Classic alongside fellow Olympic all-around gold medalists Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas, Olympics.com reports.

According to USA Gymnastics, the meet could mark the first time three Olympic all-around gold medalists compete head-to-head. The U.S. Classic, also known as the Core Hydration Classic, will be held May 17-18. The elite senior gymnasts, like Lee, will compete on May 18.

This will be the third time Lee has competed in 2024, NBC Sports reports. In late 2022, Lee announced she would be leaving collegiate gymnastics to focus on training for the Paris 2024 Olympics. A few months later, her training plans were cut short when she was diagnosed with two different types of kidney diseases.

Her health battle has made it difficult to train, but Lee is still hoping to compete at the Olympics this year. The Core Hydration Classic comes a month before the Olympic Trials in June. The trials will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, just miles away from Lee’s hometown of St. Paul.
