Celeste Ng’s first novel, Everything I Never Told You, debut with critical acclaim and strong sales.
In fact, Amazon named it its book of the year.
Ng’s tour this summer to promote the book lead to an interesting discovery. She found a general perception that there are not that many Asian American women writers when in fact she could name several dozen off the top of her head.
Ng expressed her frustrations in a piece she wrote for Salon.
She says since she put out a call on Twitter for names of Asian American women writers, she’s been deluged with hundreds of suggestions.
So where does this perception come from that there aren’t any Asian American women writers? You can read about that in Salon.
