Fresh Off the Boat has really found its stride.
Last night’s episode Huangsgiving hit the mark with its take on sibling rivalry as Jessica did her best to show mom she can do Thanksgiving better than her sister.
It was a silly, chuckle-filled episode that I’m sure had many nodding their head in recognition of perhaps their own lives and families.
ABC yesterday awarded the sophomore program by ordering two additional episodes this season, bringing the total to 24, reported
Deadline.
The crew of Fresh Off the Boat launched season 2 with the promise of only 13 episodes. ABC extended that last month by ordering nine additional shows and put its stamp of approval on it by ordering two more yesterday.
That puts Fresh Off the Boat on par with such longstanding hits as The Middle and The Goldbergs which have also received orders for two more episodes. Sophomore comedy Blackish received the same honor and talks are in the works for the same thing to happen with Modern Family.
The Huangsgiving episode also marked the return of Rex Lee as Jessica’s (Constance Wu) former boyfriend, Oscar Chow. This time Oscar brought his boyfriend, Michael (David Smithyman). It’s great to see gay characters being mainstreamed, especially in a show about an Asian American family.
