CNN: Pinoy Finding Dory Artist Draws on his Filipino Spirit

Finding DoryAnimator Paul Abadilla is one of the pixnoys.

That’s the term of endearment used by Filipino Americans working at Pixar to describe themselves.

Abadilla worked on among other films the just released Finding Dory and its predecessor Finding Nemo

“We are a closely knit community,” he said to CNN about the group which gathers at least once a year for a potluck. The most famous among them is Ronnie Del Carmen who co-directed the Pixar hit Inside Out.

“I call him Tito Ronnie,” he says. “We’ve always been friends since I’ve been in the studio.”

For Finding Dory, Abadilla worked in the department responsible for color, shading and lighting.

“I helped out in designing some of the aquarium interiors and some of the environments in the ocean,”

Abadilla started as an intern in 2008 at Pixar and has worked his way up
