A security guard who killed an Asian grandfather while he played Pokemon Go shot the man in self defense, said an attorney for the security company, reports WTKR.
Andrew Sack alleges JianSheng Chen, who was referred to only as Individual A, drove a van toward the guard before being shot in Chesapeake, VA.
The security company says it has proof Chen was told numerous times to stay away from the property which is listed as a Pokemon gym.
A group of protesters were gathered outside the attorney’s office demanding justice while he held his news conference.
In a statement released by Chen’s nephew, the 60-year old is described as a “wise, kind and caring family man.” Chen was the first in his family to immigrate to the United States from Fujian, China 28 years ago. “Today, my family from grandparents, their brothers and sisters (my grand-aunts and great-uncles) to all my cousins, we are either U.S citizen or green card holders, all because of my pioneer uncle,” said the nephew. ” He is a man with loving heart and being loved by many. Everyone enjoys his presence and his unexpected visits which we will never see again.”
