Illegal immigration drops after decade-long rise

A decade long trend has reversed itself, according to new census figures published by the Associated Press.  The number of undocumented immigrants dropped to 11.1 million last year. That’s down from a peak of 12 million in 2007. Meanwhile, celebrated undocumented Filipino American Pulitzer Prize winning journalists Jose Antonio Vargas is pushing hard for citizenship for all undocumented immigrants.

“This conversation is a question about how we as a nation define who is an American,” Vargas said to the Associated Press. j.mp/VI3mIa
