NW Asian Weekly: Community Groups Says Police Guild Holding Back Asian Am Officers from Promotions

handcuffsAsian American & Pacific Islander Community leaders called  for greater cross cultural training of  Seattle Police Officers during a meeting with city officials. They also expressed disappointment at the lack of promotional opportunities for Asian American Police Officers and blamed the Police Guild for not advocating for API officers, reported NW Asian Weekly.

“We see the police guild as our enemy and that’s why we have problems with getting our people promoted. We don’t have enough representation of Asians in the police force.” said Frank Irigon, former Executive Director of Washington Asian Pacific Islander Families Against Substance Abuse.
