Two Asian families in California whose children are eligible for citizenship under President Obama’s deferred action program face deportation, reported Examiner.com. The Asian Law Caucus has launched a petition drive on behalf of the families
The Lee Family has been in the United States for 15 years. Their son Alex is eligible for deferred action and lives with a brain cancer that has made him blind and hampered his mobility. He is dependent on his family for care and fears being separated from them if they are deported.
Putri Rahayuningsih was granted permission to stay, but her parents may be deported.
“With parents making up nearly half of people being deported, thousands of families face being torn apart this holiday season,” the Asian Law Caucus said.
