Tri Ta, the nation’s first elected Vietnamese American mayor has climbed the highest mountains, obtained a black belt in judo and now has won over the electorate in Westminster, CA, home to the second largest concentration of Vietnamese Americans of any city, reports KPCC.
His election has generated enthusiasm among Vietnamese Americans nationwide, but Ta says he doesn’t consider himself a rock star. He talked to KPCC about the significance of his victory.
