The campaign of New York City Comptroller John Liu is building momentum. A blog in the Daily Kos noted the diverse coalition of supporters that are rallying around Liu.
Not only are Chinese and other Asian American groups joining his campaign, but he’s gaining support from the black community as well. A supporter from the Nepalese community also noted the Hispanic community is backing Liu’s campaign.
Liu faces an uphill battle against three well financed opponents in Bill DeBlasio, Christine Quinn and Bill Thompson. A poll taken two weeks ago by Quinnipiac University and published in Wikipedia, finds John Liu with 9 percent support, well behind early front runner Quinn and neck and neck with DeBlasio and Thompson in a Democratic primary. 33 percent remain undecided and the election isn’t until November, so a lot can change.
