A judge in Orange County is refusing to force organizers of a Little Saigon Tet Parade to allow gay and lesbians to participate, reports the OC Register
The LGBT community has marched in past parades, but this year control of the parade was handed by the city of Westminster to private parade organizers.
“We will be there. And we will celebrate with our Vietnamese family,” said Tuan Trong Le, co-founder of the Gay Vietnamese Alliance.
Parade organizers explained their opposition this way.
“Sometimes there are tough decisions, and these decisions need to be made by the court,” said Dina Nguyen, a Garden Grove councilwoman and a lawyer defending the parade organizers.
However this controversy in not over. The OC Register reports on what opponents of the plan might do next.
