The National Park Service announced Sunday its launching a study to determine how the Asian American experience can be better represented in National Parks.
Outgoing Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar made the announcement at the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience where he also announced the Seattle museum would be designated an “affiliated area” of the National Park Service.
The designation will mean the museum will be eligible for technical and financial assistance from the federal government.
“This is the perfect addition to the family,” said National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis, welcoming the museum to share “our brand, our story, our support.” More on what the designation means in the Seattle Times,
