In this day of internet dating, leave it to a 75-year old Korean American grandfather to do it the old fashion way. Jun Gak Han doesn’t drum up business marketing to the young and single on the impersonal world wide web. He does it face to face, reaching out to parents of the young and single, parents who may be anxious to see their offspring find the perfect mate and eternal happiness in marriage.
That’s pretty ingenious if you ask me. What good Asian parent wouldn’t want to pay to help their children find love? And even if they didn’t, Han I would guess has gotten pretty good manipulating that “Asian guilt” to get parents to pay $100 for a date, $1000 if it results in marriage.
“Sometimes the couples that have gotten married don’t end up paying me,” he says, adding that he doesn’t even demand the money. “But I don’t mind. I do it because I enjoy it.”
Narratively spoke to Han to find out more about how his business works, how successful he is and his secrets for finding love.
