Media Reports in the Politico and other blogs indicate Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is using his office as a testing ground for the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination.
IANS says controversial plans proposed by Jindal such as his school voucher plan, rejection of the Medicaid expansion in Obamacare and proposed scrapping the state income tax are designed to strengthen his conservative base in early primary states such as Iowa and New Hampshire.
Republicans have also increased Jindal’s profile by electing him head of the Republican Governor’s Association and pushing him as a party spokesman on the Sunday talk show circuit.
As Politico wrote: “It’s no coincidence that Jindal took the helm at the RGA this year: The position gives him reason to travel the country and build up a national network that would be crucial to any presidential bid.”
