George Takei shared his thoughts on “Social Justice in a Digital World” with more than 600 students at Cal Poly Pomona Tuesday, reported DiamondBar-WalnutPatch.
Takei recollected his conversations with his father when he was a teenager and that what his father told him about the American democracy has stayed with him ever since.
“My father said ‘the American democracy is the people’s democracy. It’s dependent on good people to be actively engaged in the process,’” said Takei, according to DiamondBar-WalnutPatch. “What my father told me really defined who I am.”
The 75-year-old openly gay actor also talked about gay rights and his years in a Japanese internment camp in Arcadia.
