The people behind two of the Asian American community’s biggest blog sites told students at Cal State Fullerton that they provide a consistent voice their readers don’t typically find elsewhere.
“Some of the people who read the site come because it has a certain voice, and I’d like to think it’s the same voice I’ve maintained for twelve years,” said Phil Yu, founder and editor of Angry Asian Man.
His blog covers current events with an emphasis on the racism that Asian Americans face everyday.
Jocelyn Wang of 8 Asians sees her blog as the new “ethnic press” or alternative media of her generation.
“What we do look for is somebody with a voice, or a strong opinion,” said Wang. “It’s about more than the facts and figures, but about the spirit, said the editor-in-chief and CEO of 8 Asians”
