In a move that may have both surprised and pleased fans of TV’s Bachelor, Sean Lowe chose Catherine Guidici as his potential bride, and promptly proposed in the televised finale.
Lowe declared “Catherine, I want to spend the rest of my life telling you, ‘I love you,’ and making you feel like the most special, beautiful woman in the world.” the NY Daily News reported.
“Is this for real?” said Guidici. “I’m so happy … I am so grateful to have met somebody like you. I’ve never been so comfortable about myself and with somebody.”
The International Business Times reported that Catherine tweeted that she is Filipino and a proud Pinay. She added her mom recently made a contribution to Seattle’s Wing Luke Museum “I Am Filipino” exhibit.
Guidici is not only the first Asian American, but the first minority to win Bachelor. The show has been criticized for the lack of diversity in its contestants.
