Global Post; Korean Americans Face Major Obstacles to Voting

voteAlmost one out of ten Korean Americans say they didn’t get the language assistance they needed at the polls during the last presidential election, reports the Global Post.

The poll by the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund found only 33 percent of Korean Americans say they speak English well. That is the lowest of all Asian American groups.

23 percent used translated voting materials in Korean to aid them in casting their vote, but 8 percent said they could have used the translated materials, but did not receive any.

Nearly 3 out of ten said they were asked to show identification when they were not required to do so.

You can read more about the obstacles Korean American voters encountered in the Global Post.
