Good crowds gathered in Coteau, LA to celebrate the start of the Laotian New Year, reported the Daily Iberian.

Parking spaces in the small town on this day were at a premium as people came for the parade and to enjoy the food booths and cultural activities.

“It’s been getting bigger and bigger every year, and this year’s perfect because the weather’s awesome, so that’s why we have so many people out here,” said Salita Natasine. “The parade is something everybody looks forward to. I mean, it’s a small parade, only three streets long, but everybody looks forward to that.”

Women in traditional costumes danced and Laotian music blasted from the many floats.
