Fierce Five and US Olympic gold medalist Kyla Ross is paving her own path after winning the hearts of America along with other members of the US Olympic Gymnastic team, according to Examiner.com.
While her teammates have cashed in on their glory, Ross is the only one to resume full training and continuing to compete as an amateur. She is now considered the leader of the US team.
It’s fun being a leader and showing them everything and sort of giving them a look at how competition goes, how training goes and definitely helping support them and everything.”
“Gymnastics has definitely helped me become who I am,” she adds. “I think learning to be disciplined and focused and contributes to being yourself and doing well in school. I think a lot of little girls who get into gymnastics early sort of learn that, and it helps them in their whole lives.”
Right now college is in Ross’ future. The Hawaiian-born Ross is of Japanese, Filipino, Puerto Rican and African American ancestry.
