NBC Executives rejected a recommendation by Today’s publicist to apologize for the way the network handled the departure of Ann Curry.
The website Gather quoting from a report on Radar Online said Megan Kopf went to her bosses immediately after the farewell show.
“Look we have to issue an apology for the way we handled Ann’s farewell,” she said.
Publicity surrounding Curry’s departure was largely negative and Kopf felt the network should have at least released a statement.
Today spent about five minutes saying goodbye to Curry versus the nearly two hours given to Meredith Vieira when she left the show.
Kopf’s proposal was rejected because the network felt Curry wasn’t really leaving the show since she would stay on as a correspondent.
