Sunil TripathiThe family of Sunil Tripathi has confirmed the body pulled from the Providence River is their son who has been missing for more than a month, reports the New York Times

“On April 23, our beloved Sunil was discovered in the waters off India Point Park in Providence,” his family sadly wrote in a statement.

The Indian American student was last seen more than a month ago by his roommate.  The discovery comes just a week after Tripathi was incorrectly identified by some of those using the crowd source site Reddit as the Boston Marathon bomber.

“It was absolutely horrible,” said Ms. Tripathi, who said she knew immediately the bomber was not her son.

No cause of death has been determined.

You can read more of the family’s statement in the New York Times.
